How To: Share a Facebook Post with Friends & Family on WhatsApp

Share a Facebook Post with Friends & Family on WhatsApp

We're starting to see more WhatsApp integration with apps that Facebook also owns. We got our first glimpse last year with the ability to share Instagram posts directly to WhatsApp contacts. Now, the same is being tested on the Facebook app itself, so users will be able to share statuses, videos, photos, and more to WhatsApp.

Unfortunately, we don't know too much about the feature at this time. Social media consultant Matt Navara broke the news on Friday, May 18, showing off a screenshot of the feature in action.

The feature is apparently being tested on Facebook beta, although not all testers are seeing it. If you want to be among the first to try out the new share feature, you can sign up for the Android beta here. Unfortunately, the iOS beta is not open for signup.

How to Share Facebook Posts to WhatsApp

When you find a Facebook post worth sharing to friends and family in WhatsApp, tap the "Share" button attached to the post. If you have the feature, you should see "Send in WhatsApp." Go ahead and tap that option to start up a new message.

We don't know yet if Facebook will let you share to WhatsApp from the Facebook app, or if it will take you directly to WhatsApp for sharing. For example, you can share Instagram posts to Facebook without having to leave Instagram itself, but if you want to share the same post to Messenger, you will need to exit Instagram and share the post in Messenger.

(1) Sharing to Facebook. (2) Sharing to Messenger.

It's likely the function will launch outside the app, however. That's what happens when sharing from Instagram to WhatsApp, so chances are, the same design will apply to Facebook's app as well. We won't know until more information comes out. Until then, your guess is as good as ours.
