Motorola Razr Fold: 6,000mAh Battery, 4.6mm Thin, Stylus Included

Motorola Razr Fold: 6,000mAh Battery, 4.6mm Thin, Stylus Included

Motorola has entered the book-style foldable market with the Motorola Razr Fold, its first device in the book-style format competing alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold line and Google Pixel Fold. The device makes a specific, testable argument: that foldables don't have to sacrifice battery life or thinness to deliver flagship specs.

The core claims are striking. The Razr Fold measures 4.6mm thick when open and packs a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. It ships with a stylus included at its European launch price of €1,999 (about $2,350), The Verge reported earlier this year. That price is a bundle figure; the standalone phone cost has not been confirmed.

One caveat upfront: North American pricing and launch timing remain unannounced, and no independent reviews have been published yet. What's available so far is a detailed spec sheet, though independent testing is still missing.

The three bets that define this device

Battery: the most unusual claim in the category

The Razr Fold's 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery would make it the first foldable sold in North America to use that chemistry, according to The Verge. That distinction matters specifically in foldables, where larger displays, complex hinges, and thinner profiles all compress available cell space. A 6,000mAh pack in a 4.6mm chassis is a notable claim on paper; independent testing will determine whether it holds up.

The phone supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, per The Verge and CNET. Even if real-world endurance falls short of what the raw capacity number implies, fast charging provides a meaningful fallback.

Thinness: a design argument against the compromise narrative

At 4.6mm open and 9.9mm closed, weighing 243 grams, the Razr Fold is physically slimmer than either the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, while carrying displays slightly larger than both: an 8.1-inch interior screen and a 6.6-inch cover panel, CNET reported earlier this year.

The Razr Fold will also be the first smartphone to feature Corning's Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the cover, according to CNET. That puts a durability argument inside the thinness argument, which is worth noting even if real-world drop performance won't be known until reviewers get hold of one.

Stylus bundled, not sold separately

The Moto Pen Ultra is included at the €1,999 European launch price. That gives Motorola a clearer productivity angle than rivals that sell a stylus separately Samsung's S Pen accessories for the Galaxy Z Fold line are not included with the device, The Verge noted. Whether the bundle carries into North American pricing is still unconfirmed.

A book-style foldable with an included stylus has an obvious pitch to users who want a tablet-equivalent writing and annotation surface. Whether North American buyers get the same deal is one of the bigger open questions.

Motorola Razr Fold specs: cameras, chipset, durability, and software

The Razr Fold runs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which CNET describes as targeting both performance and efficiency gains, as well as powering AI features. That efficiency focus could help battery endurance, though no benchmark or thermal data has been published.

The rear camera system is triple 50-megapixel across three lenses: a main sensor using a 1/1.28-inch Sony LYTIA chip, a 3x optical zoom with optical image stabilization, and a 122-degree ultrawide that doubles as a macro camera. Selfie cameras are 32 megapixels on the cover and 20 megapixels inside, per The Verge and CNET. Camera performance is one of those claims that doesn't survive contact with real-world testing that's the area to watch when reviews land.

On water resistance: IP48 and IP49 ratings cover submersion up to a meter for 30 minutes and resistance to high-pressure water jets, CNET reported. The Razr Fold is not dust-resistant, though, putting it behind the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold on that specific durability axis, per CNET.

Software support runs to up to seven years of OS upgrades and security patches, which The Verge notes has become something of a standard commitment on flagship Android phones. For a device category where long-term viability has sometimes been uncertain, that pledge matters more than it might on a conventional phone.

Both colorways, Pantone Blackened Blue and Pantone Lily White, use vegan leather backs. CNET notes the material resists fingerprints better than polished glass and carries a more luxurious feel. Minor in the overall picture, but relevant to a device competing on premium positioning.

Motorola Razr Fold price and release date: what's confirmed

The only confirmed price is €1,999 as a European bundle with the stylus. Motorola has not disclosed US pricing, the phone's standalone cost, or whether the stylus bundle applies to North American buyers, The Verge flagged all three gaps earlier this year. That makes direct price comparison with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold impossible right now.

North America gets the device "in the coming months" after the European launch, with a summer window indicated. Motorola says it will share more specifics as that window approaches, per CNET. No firm date has been set.

The spec sheet makes a credible case for the hardware. What it can't answer: real-world battery endurance, camera consistency across lighting conditions, crease visibility on the inner display, hinge durability after months of use, and how the device handles sustained workloads without thermal throttling. These are the questions that separate a compelling foldable from a great one.

The Razr Fold looks best suited to buyers who prioritize battery capacity, thinness, and stylus-included value over proven track record. Anyone prioritizing dust resistance, confirmed US pricing, or hands-on durability data has concrete reasons to wait.

What comes next

The European bundle price is set. North American timing is still "in the coming months," with a summer window the only frame given. US pricing, standalone phone cost, and whether the stylus stays bundled for North American buyers all remain unresolved.

When the Razr Fold reaches reviewers, battery endurance under real conditions and hinge durability over months of use will tell the story the spec sheet can't. Until then, Motorola has made its argument. The proof comes later.
