This is a great way to repurpose your old covers!
Tired of your old iPhone cover? Rather than spend $30 on a new one, why not just paint the old one until it suits you? It's way less expensive, and better on the environment!
Things you'll need:
- old smartphone cover
- spray paint
- cardboard, plastic or photo paper
- utility knife
- brushes and paints (if desired)
Get your cover ready
Your old smartphone cover should be clean and full of any debris. Depending on what it's made of, you might want to prime it with a paint primer
Get your work area ready
Make sure you have plenty of room outside, in the garage, or that your work area is completely covered in newspaper so that you don't spray paint anything that shouldn't be!
Lay on a base coat
Spray over the entire cover so that it's a single, base color
Make your stencil
While the base coat is drying, print a stencil onto your cardboard, plastic, or photo paper, and cut out with utility knife
Spray paint your stencil
Use other colors of spray paint to stencil on your image. Depending on how many colors you want to use, you may want to use multiple stencils
Add some detail
If you like, you can paint on details with a paint brush and regular paints
Display your awesome-looking phone!
After your cover has dried completely, put it on your phone and walk around like the coolest kid in town - BECAUSE YOU ARE!
