Motorola has become the first phone maker to announce a device built around Qualcomm's new flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The company unveiled the Motorola Signature 27 at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, with Qualcomm and Motorola both confirming the new platform inside the phone.
The announcement confirms Motorola's early position on Qualcomm's newest silicon, but the Signature 27 is still in preview rather than on sale. Motorola says the phone will launch globally before the end of 2026, while its US product page now says more details are coming in November. Pricing remains under wraps.
The phone is also expected in the US. Motorola now has a dedicated US Signature 27 page, although its wording stops short of giving an exact retail date.
Here's what's actually locked in versus what's still missing.
Motorola Signature 27 specs confirmed so far
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera are two of the headline specifications, but Motorola has now confirmed considerably more than those alone.

Motorola says the Sony LYTIA L910 and its Video Enhancement Engine refine color, exposure, highlights, and shadows in real time. Those are manufacturer claims rather than independent camera-test results.
The company also says its cooling system is designed to move heat away from the Snapdragon chip to help sustain performance for longer. Tech Advisor reports the system is 40% larger than the cooling setup in the previous Signature and combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a redesigned vapor chamber.
The Signature 27 follows the Motorola Signature introduced earlier in 2026, continuing Motorola's newer premium branding.
Some major specifications are still missing. Motorola has not yet published a complete Signature 27 spec sheet covering battery capacity, display size and resolution, RAM and storage configurations, charging speeds, or exact dimensions.
That means the phone still can't be fully compared with a Galaxy Ultra, Pixel Pro, or other 2027 flagship on hardware alone.
What Motorola claims the new chip will improve
Motorola's pitch for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 centers on AI, gaming, camera processing, and connectivity.
Qualcomm itself has now published more detail about what the platform provides. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 uses a Qualcomm Oryon CPU with two prime cores running at up to 5GHz, an Adreno GPU with Neural Fusion, a Hexagon NPU, and the X105 5G modem.
Qualcomm lists peak 5G download speeds of up to 14.8Gbps and Wi-Fi speeds up to 11.6Gbps through its FastConnect 8800 system. Those are platform maximums under supported conditions, not measured Signature 27 speeds. (Qualcomm)
On-device AI remains a major part of the pitch. Qualcomm describes the platform as designed for more personalized agentic AI, while Motorola says the phone will benefit from stronger on-device AI capabilities.
Gaming gets a more specific hardware change. Qualcomm's Adreno Neural Fusion uses AI-assisted processing for areas including super resolution and frame generation, with the goal of improving graphics while reducing some of the GPU workload.
Camera processing is also a focus. Qualcomm's new platform includes its Elite Color Engine, Advanced Professional Video support, and Intelligent Pixel Control. Motorola pairs that processing with its own 50MP LYTIA L910 main camera and 200MP periscope telephoto.
None of that is the same as independent testing.
There are still no retail Signature 27 benchmarks, sustained-performance tests, battery tests, or independent camera comparisons. Qualcomm's peak numbers describe the chip platform, while Motorola's performance and camera claims describe what the company expects its implementation to deliver.
Is Motorola's chip lead actually exclusive?
Qualcomm unveiled both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 at Snapdragon Summit on Sept. 22.
Motorola has the first announced phone built around the Extreme chip, but Qualcomm has already named several other manufacturers planning phones with its new Snapdragon 8 Elite platforms.
That list includes HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo, and Xiaomi. (Qualcomm)
Qualcomm hasn't specified in that announcement which of those manufacturers will use the Extreme version rather than the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, so Motorola's early position shouldn't be read as a long-term exclusive.
Tech Advisor expects the new generation of Snapdragon chips to power many Android flagships through 2027. That's an industry forecast rather than a confirmed device roadmap from every manufacturer.
Tom's Guide has also raised Apple's A20 Pro as a likely rival for Qualcomm's new chip generation. There isn't yet a meaningful Signature 27 versus iPhone comparison, though, because no retail Signature 27 benchmark data exists.
Motorola's announcement therefore gives it a real first-mover milestone, not proof of a lasting performance lead.
Motorola Signature 27 release date and price: what's still unknown
Motorola hasn't announced a price.
The company says the Signature 27 is coming to global markets before the end of 2026. Its US product page now says, "Stay tuned for more, coming this November."
That makes November the next concrete milestone for US buyers, but Motorola doesn't explicitly say on that page that retail sales begin in November. The wording could refer to additional specifications, pricing, preorder information, availability, or all of those.
The US page itself confirms that Motorola is actively preparing the Signature 27 for the market, making US availability substantially more concrete than an outside prediction alone.
Motorola still hasn't published a complete regional launch schedule.
What we still need to know
The Signature 27 is no longer just a chip announcement with one camera specification attached.
Motorola has confirmed a 200MP periscope telephoto, 50MP Sony LYTIA L910 main sensor, up to 100x AI-assisted zoom, an upgraded cooling system, Bang & Olufsen audio, and premium materials alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
What remains missing is just as important for a buying decision: price, battery capacity, charging speeds, display specifications, RAM and storage options, exact dimensions, complete regional availability, and independent performance testing.
Qualcomm has published detailed specifications for the Snapdragon platform itself, including a CPU reaching up to 5GHz and peak 5G download speeds up to 14.8Gbps. Those figures establish what the silicon supports, not what a retail Signature 27 will sustain in everyday use.
Anyone tracking the Signature 27 as a possible upgrade should watch Motorola's November update for the remaining specifications, price, and release details.
Until retail units reach reviewers, treat Motorola's AI, cooling, gaming, zoom, and camera-performance promises as manufacturer claims rather than tested results.
