How to turn off or restart an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch If you want to turn your Apple iPhone or iPod Touch off hold the sleep button on the top of the iPod until a dialog box that says slide to power off with a red arrow. When that dialog box comes up slide the arrow and the iPod or iPhone will power completely off. If your iPhone or iPod Touch completely crashes you will want to completely restart it. To do a restart push the home button and the sleep button and hold them until the unit shuts down and restarts. Before it restarts the power down button will come up just keep holding the buttons until it shuts off and restarts. The restart should take care of whatever problems you were having with the unit.
