When we think of search it's usually in regards to the internet. But when you are using a smartphone, searching your device itself can be just as important and useful.

The default search function on the iPhone is pretty great. You can type in any query and it searches through your contacts, text, applications, and the web.

The default search function on Android does much of the same, but for people like me who have tons and tons of apps, searching through all of the phone's data to find a particular app isn't all that fast.

In an effort to create the fastest and most efficient app finder, XDA forums member piligrimm developed an app called AppDialer-T9, available for free in the Google Play store.

This is a search function for apps only. This way, you don't have to wade through a bunch of unrelated results to find what you're looking for. Instead of using the virtual keyboard, AppDialer-T9 utilizes the classic T-9 format for typing, and displays the results right above keyboard.

The basic version of the app comes with some really great features. AppDialer-T9 automatically organizes your other apps from most used to least used, and displays the ones you use the most at the top of the results when searching. You can search for an app using the app's name, vendor's name, or any word contained in the application.

The Pro version (available as an in-app purchase) lets you pin icons to the home screen and shows the app's details and information.
