News: The Best Black Friday 2017 Deals for iPhones

The Best Black Friday 2017 Deals for iPhones

There's a good chance that an iPhone is on one of your Christmas shopping lists, but these things are uber-expensive now, making it hard to justify as a holiday gift — even for yourself. That's what Black Friday is for, though, which can help you save a little bit of cash on an iPhone purchase — or at least, give you something in return to help you get even more holiday presents.

We've rounded up the best Black Friday sales on iPhones below, which range from discounted prices to gift cards for future shopping trips. Make sure to read the fine print on all of these deals, though, to make sure you're getting exactly what you need, no matter if it's a gift for yourself or for some lucky person on your list.

1. Free $300 Gift Card from Walmart

Walmart is currently offering the best Black Friday deals on iPhones. And they are the only major retailer offering specials on the iPhone X (at the moment, anyway).

Unfortunately, you will not receive a discount on the iPhone X — or any iPhone for that matter — but Walmart is offering a free $300 gift card with qualified activation on an iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, or X. The device must be activated on an AT&T Next or Device Payment Plan contract.

If you are a regular shopper at Walmart, this deal may be a no-brainer. Or, if you aren't, considering making yourself one, at least for the next $300 you'd spend at another retail store.

2. Free $250 Gift Card from Target or $60 Off

Target has the next best deals on iPhones. While you won't find the $1,000 iPhone here, Target is offering a special almost as good as Walmart.

Expect a free $250 gift card with qualified activation of an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus on an AT&T Next plan, a Sprint 24-Month Installments or Lease plan, or Verizon Device Payment plan.

The gift card may be $50 less than at Walmart, but Target is also offering something Walmart isn't — an iPhone SE deal. Target will let you take $60 off the 4-inch iPhone, which is an excellent deal for anyone sick of how big iPhones have gotten in recent years. We've also highlighted the SE as a great phone for music lovers, so there's a lot to like with this special from Walmart.

3. Up to $200 Off at Best Buy

If you don't have a Walmart or Target near you, or if you'd prefer to get all your shopping done at one store, Best Buy might be for you. Some might find the deals at Target and Walmart to be more flexible, but if you're specifically looking for an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus, Best Buy might be the place.

Currently, the tech retailer is letting customers save up to $200 with qualified activation of an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus. Though they picture AT&T and Verizon compatibility on the flyer, from what we can tell, you need to sign up for a 24-month installment agreement with Sprint to get any discount.

You can also get this deal on a Sprint Flex Lease plan, and you'll get the discount in a form of a Best Buy gift card.

4. Free $100 Gift Card from Sam's Club

Sam's Club has a decent offer for purchasing and activating a new iPhone 8 or 8 Plus this Black Friday. Not only will you receive a free $100 gift card, but it appears Sam's Club is relatively flexible with which carrier you want to buy from.

According to Sam's Club's iPhone page, the retailer sells iPhones from AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint, but does not appear to service T-Mobile. It seems from this webpage, Sam's Club allows customers to either purchase phones through an installment plan or to purchase the phone in full. Unfortunately, the $100 gift card cannot be used towards the iPhone purchase itself.

While it is not listed on the iPhone page, US Cellular is mentioned in the fine print as a network that does not allow installment plans. If you use US Cellular, this seems to imply you activate an iPhone from Sam's Club with that network, so long as you purchase the iPhone in full.

5. Buy One, Get One Free at T-Mobile

T-Mobile wants to make it easy for you to gift an iPhone 8 to someone. When you purchase a 64 GB version of the iPhone 8 with T-Mobile, you can get another one free. This deal starts on Nov. 17 at 12:01 a.m.

That second iPhone 8 will need to be activated on a new line, and both will need to be using the Equipment Installment Plan for a 24-month period. Full taxes on both phones is due at signing. And as for the free part, a rebate no higher than $699.99 will be issued to you via a prepaid MasterCard card up to 8 weeks later. If you cancel service at any time, the remaining balance will then be due.

  • iPhone 8 requires $0 down, $29.17/month (full pre-rebate price of $699.99) each

6. Wait to See What Apple Offers

You might be asking yourself — why go through another retailer for my iPhone when I could just pick one up from the Apple Store? Surely they have some Black Friday special?

The truth is, we don't know what Apple's going to do for Black Friday. In the past, they've offered gift cards if you spend a certain amount in-store, but unlike the companies mentioned above, Apple does not release information about their Black Friday specials until the day of the event.

If you want to wait and see what Apple itself will offer, you can. Just know we can't promise or predict if their deals will be any better than with Walmart, Target, or Best Buy.
