I recently ran into a problem connecting my Instagram app on my iPhone 5 to Facebook, and neither Instagram's or Facebook's help pages were as helpful as they claim to be.
Instagram 3.4 is supposed to have improved sharing integration for iOS 6, supposedly making the connection to Facebook simplified and seamless on an iPhone 5.
Once you first try to share a photo on Instagram to Facebook, it will tell you to go to iOS Settings -> Privacy -> Facebook and then turn on Instagram to give it access.
If you're lucky, it will be as simple as that. But if you're like me, you'll never even see Instagram in the options.
As the help page on Instagram suggested, I deleted both Facebook and Instagram, then reinstalled, but it still would not work. Other folks on the web suggested disabling restrictions by going to iOS Settings -> General -> Restrictions and making sure it was disabled. Mine already was. Facebook offered no help on the matter.
It could have just been a temporary glitch, but no matter what I tried, I kept getting the message to enable Instagram in the Facebook privacy settings on my iPhone, where Instagram never appeared. So, if you've been having that problem too, this is what finally solved it for me.
How to Finally Connect Your Instagram to Facebook
The trick is getting on your computer and going to the Instagram app page on Facebook, which you can get to directly from this link. Make sure you're logged into your Facebook account before doing this, on both the online and mobile version.
NOTE: You will not be able to do this in Safari on your iPhone, because clicking on the Instagram app on mobile Facebook there will merely send you to the Instagram app already installed on your iPhone or to the one in the App Store. So, make sure you are doing this on your computer.
Once on the Instagram app page on your computer, click on Send to Mobile to "send" the app to your iPhone. Since you're already logged into the Facebook app on your iPhone, this will simply send out a notification to you.
Once you get the notification on your iPhone, click on it. If you missed the popup, you can always find it in the notifications bar, too.
This will open up your notifications in the Facebook app.
Then, click on that notification and you should be golden. It will open up the Instagram app on your iPhone and finally let you share your photos.
To verify, you can go back to the Facebook Privacy settings and see that Instagram is now turned on and not missing entirely.
And that's it. Pretty simple, despite this not being noted anywhere online. You'd think that since Facebook owns Instagram, that something like this wouldn't happen.
Maybe it just happened to be down temporarily while I was initially attempting this, but just in case it's happening to you, this will hopefully get you connected.

thank you soooo much! this was driving me crazy! i just got the i phone 5 about a week ago and just signed up with instagram and could not get them to connect so i could find my friends and post to both at the same time. i could not find any info ANYWHERE on the web until i stumbled upon this. I just got a iPhone 4S and cannot link Facebook to Instagram. On my HTC wheni took the photo and went to post to Instagram I had the option of clicking FB. This option is not being offered any suggestions? Thank you.
Gerry, hopefully this process would have worked for linking your Facebook to Instagram. If not, I'm not sure what to tell you. If it did, sharing to Facebook is pretty easy on Instagram from the iOS app.
When you take a picture using Instagram, after you get past the filter screen, you should see the options to select Facebook, so it shares to both Instagram and Facebook.
You can share pictures you've already taken by selecting your picture in Instagram, then clicking on the ellipsis button, and hitting "Share Photo". This will bring you to the share menu. Make sure Facebook is highlighted and hit the green "Share" button in the top right.

I get this too - I am really starting to get frustrated with the whole thing! The worst part is that it WAS connected to one of my old facebook account on my phone, it is just switching it to THIS fb account that is giving me this issue

i did everything suggested, but instagram does not show up in privacy/facebook on my iphone 5- even though i have successfully connected to instagram on the computer.
mine is still not working and after a lot of research i think i have narrowed the problem down, but still am extremely unsure of how to fix it. When I go to Settings>Privacy>Facebook all i see is the stock message of "Applications that have requested access to your facebook will appear hear" and i do not see the actual facebook app like the picture shown above. I have deleted and re added my facebook app and the facebook account in my phone a million times and I still cant get facebook to ask for privacy permission. Even when i have reinstalled my account once you log in and it shows the apps that have access to your account, mine only lists calendar and contacts but does not actually list facebook. HOW DO I FIX THIS?! this is driving me nuts. My settings keep popping up and asking me to enter my facebook password because there was a problem accessing my account and no matter how many times i enter the correct password it still doesnt work. I need help!!!!
Katie, your problem sounds like a doozy.
First, maybe go to Settings on your iPhone and just scroll down until you see the Facebook app (usually right beside Twitter). Click on that and you'll see the account that you're logged in with on the iPhone. If you're not logged into Facebook, try to do so from there.
If you are logged in, you should also see the apps that use your account, including the Facebook app. Make sure it's turned on (and Instagram if it's there). Then proceed with the instructions above (if it didn't already take care of the problem).
If you're still having issues, maybe go to Settings -> General -> Reset and Reset Location & Privacy. This could clear all of your privacy settings, which might make things easier, except be warned... it reset privacy settings for all apps. Then, try to go from there.

The advices from the article also didn't help me and then I saw this picture you posted and went to check fb settings and the reason I couldn't post from instagram to Fb is because a few days ago I changed the password to Fb and so, Instagram couldn't connect until I resolved the issue in Fb settings... I'm logged in, did all the steps. I even deledted facebook from the ios facebook privacy. Well, OK, this works on allowing instagram to pose on facebook account but when i click share on facebook it says "sharing succeeeded" but the photos does'nt appear on my facebook page. I'm back to square 1 man.

I've tried removing both apps and re-installing, no luck, tried all methods above, no luck, worked fine on my 4S but upgraded to the 5 and now it doesn't work, very frustrating!!! grrrrrr

Ugh. Clicking "Send to Mobile" is just giving me an error. I have activated my phone number on Facebook so I'm not sure what the issue is. Could just be down but I have no idea. I sent them an email to report it. Hopefully I find a solution soon.

i found a solution. Go to Settings > Facebook > Select Current Facebook Account. Then Delete you Account Details.
after that, go back to instagram and it should connect to facebook now.

Not working. I just get an error message when I click on "Send To Mobile". What can I do??
I just found an even easier way!! Went into Iphone 5 Settings>Facebook (the actual Facebook settings) Then where it gives you your name and login details for facebook, click on your name and delete the login account. When deleted, go to instagram and try to share the photo again and it says that you need to login to facebook, click ok and accept the requests and instagram happily allows posting via the facebook app. Then just add your details back into the settings and everything works fine.

I have done all the tips on this page inside and out! Instagram is not appearing in my settings, videos from instagram will not go to FB and videos from my iphone5 will not got onto FB. Any solutions
FOR ALL THOSE THAT NOTHING HAS WORKED FOR!! I figured it out. What you need to do is uninstall instagram. Install it again. When you open the app, tap on register. Then click use Facebook info. Allow Facebook to use instagram. Then hit the "back" button and hit "sign in" with your instagram username. This should work since I had all of the same problems! Hope this helps!!

I wasn't getting anything. I went into Settings->Facebook->Login and still nothing...wouldn't connect. Went into Instagram and clicked on the cog->Preferences->Share Settings->clicked on the greyed out Facebook expecting to go to the authorization page...and nothing. It wasn't until I actually installed the Facebook APP that things actually started working. For those of you who don't want the Facebook App on your phone but want Instagram to post to it, you MUST download the Facebook App to the phone FIRST, link the two apps, then delete the Facebook App. It seems Facebook wants a choke hold on your social media...

If after all this it still doesn't work, try and unlink and relink facebook in the Instagram settings, worked for me.
Just got a new iPhone 5s and tried every and still instagram does not show up under any of my settings linked to Facebook (where as it did before I started doing all of these steps). I can share my photo's however when I tap the 3 dots ... the option to share my friends photo's to FB does not appear anymore. It did before but wasn't working... Share is caring people and this is all I am trying to accomplish right now. This is BS I get a new phone and spend hours trying to get things working like they used to. I thought upgrading would make my life easier but instead I'm pulling my hair out!!!
