Instagram 101: How to Hide Posts from Your Profile Without Deleting Them

How to Hide Posts from Your Profile Without Deleting Them

With Instagram's archive feature, we have the pleasure of hiding all our stupid photos of #gettingcrunk from back in the day. This wonderful new IG feature will still allow us all to cherish those embarrassing moments in our life, yet hide them from those people we hope would never scroll so far down.

Instagram's archive feature will probably save a lot of our lives by giving us pretty much the perfect feed to show to our bosses, family, and all their weird friends. All you have to do is make sure you're running Instagram version 10.25 or higher on your Android or iPhone. If you just update to the latest version, you'll be all set.

When set, go to whichever post on your page that makes you cringe the most, tap on the ellipsis (...) in the top right, then select the "Archive" option right at the top of that list. The photo or video will then be removed from your public page and made available to you in a private folder. Your private folder will be accessible to you from a little rewind icon in the top right-hand corner of your profile page.

Oh, and if you ever dream again of showing off that night you posted a photo of yourself in Miami banging bongo drums with a bum, then don't worry. That option is also available to you if you so dare. From your new private folder, you will have the option to "Show on Profile." Tap on that and the photo will go right back to its original place on your page, tucked away for all to see.

Just updated your iPhone? You'll find new emoji, enhanced security, podcast transcripts, Apple Cash virtual numbers, and other useful features. There are even new additions hidden within Safari. Find out what's new and changed on your iPhone with the iOS 17.4 update.
