To celebrate its tenth anniversary, PornHub has just exposed all of our porn habits. All. Of. Them. Before you panic, no individual information has been released. Instead, PornHub has exposed the adult video trends and preferences of a variety of demographics.
According to Rule 34 of the internet, "if it exists, there is porn of it — no exceptions." Based on this new announcement from PornHub, there really aren't any exceptions. There was even a spike in searches for yoga porn in 2012. I guess people wanted to get their namaste AND their nasty on — at the same time.
The popular site unsurprisingly revealed that most users watch porn at midnight. Major holidays elicit peaks in searches containing relevant keywords. Searches containing words like 'daddy' and 'dad' were popular on Father's Day, and those including the word 'elf' increase by 464% around Christmas. Surprisingly, PornHub generally sees decreased traffic on the night of Valentine's Day.
Across both North and South America, women search the most for lesbian porn, and women in Brazil and the Philippines frequent PornHub more than women in any other country. Among women searching for porn featuring well-endowed men, most live in Washington DC, Mississippi, and Georgia.
PornHub users also appear to be remarkably well-informed about current events. In response to Fidel Castro's death, there was a spike in searches for Cuban maids. When Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint, 'burglar' became a popular keyword. Of course, the drama earlier this year about President Trump allegedly hiring prostitutes to perform golden showers left its mark on PornHub's findings. Trump's rumored transgressions yielded a piqued interest in pee porn.
As told to Gadget Hacks, PornHub has revealed that over 60% of users access the site from a mobile device. Following that, 28% use desktops. Shockingly, just 11% use tablets. Of the approximately 61% of people using mobile devices, most people use Chrome or Safari to view porn, with just 1% of visitors using Internet Explorer. Of those checking PornHub on smartphones, most are men between the ages of 18 and 34. This predominance of younger viewers is unsurprising considering that the majority of the site's visitors are millennials.
So many people view PornHub from a mobile device that PornHub devoted an entire study to assessing the different habits of Android and iOS users. While Android users spend on average 10 minutes and 6 seconds per visit, iOS users take just 8 minutes and 40 seconds to satisfy their viewing desires.
Regarding content, there are stark differences between the two operating systems. Android users watch hardcore porn way more often than those using Apple devices, but iOS users have a thing for MILFs that Android users don't. Those on Apple devices also look up significantly more BDSM-related porn. Android fans — conversely — have a penchant for cartoons. Go figure.
Throughout the world, Android users frequent PornHub more than users of any other operating system. However, iOS dominates domestically. Among all US PornHub visitors, most people visiting the site are iOS users — except in Texas and South Carolina where Android remains on top.
What does this latest reveal from PornHub tell us? That there's porn about pretty much everything. Seeing the major trends is surprising, and it appears that some seemingly arbitrary groups — such as Android users and iOS users — are more similar than previously thought. One thing's for sure: porn consumption isn't stopping anytime soon. So America, continue to get your (safe and consensual) freak on.
