CES 2015: These Camera Lens Add-Ons Will Take Mobile Photography to the Next Level

These Camera Lens Add-Ons Will Take Mobile Photography to the Next Level

Add-on smartphone lenses are nothing new, but they have definitely gotten better as time goes on. Case in point: the Olloclip series of lenses for iPhones and Samsung Galaxy devices (the S4 and S5 only at the moment).

Their newer 4-in-1 lenses give you fisheye, wide angle, 10x macro, and 15x macro capabilities. Each model works on the rear-facing camera, except the one for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which not only works on the rear-facing camera, but also the front-facing one for enhanced selfies.

Check out the quick demo below for more information, and to see just how well the macro lenses work.

Prices currently range from $69.99 to $99.99 for the following devices.

The only downside to these lenses is that they don't work with cases, so you need to take your case off to fit them properly onto your device. If you try to force it with a case on, you risk cracking your screen.

You can check out the rest of Olloclip's lineup here, and look for more Android device support in the coming months. For instructions on setting up and using the 4-in-1 smartphone lens system, check out Olloclip's help page.

If you just need a macro lens and don't feel like spending that much on merchandise, there are always DIY solutions like water drops and door viewer lenses, but the magnification won't be as good (or as crisp), though you can get amazing results at 175x with a laser pointer lens.

Just updated your iPhone? You'll find new emoji, enhanced security, podcast transcripts, Apple Cash virtual numbers, and other useful features. There are even new additions hidden within Safari. Find out what's new and changed on your iPhone with the iOS 17.4 update.
