How to Hack an iPhone

Aug 25, 2009 08:07 PM
Jailbreak button with version information.

These instructions only work on Macs, so don't try them on Windows.

Need to downgrade your iPhone

Why would you want to hack your iPhone. Perhaps in preparation jailbreak or SIM unlock. Here's the easiest way to do it. This is a very simple how to:

Enter DFU mode: power + home for 10 seconds, then home for another 10 seconds. The phone will remain completely black. If not, repeat. iNdependence will also do this step.

Select the desired firmware you’re downgrading to; those can be obtained below.

In iTunes hold Option/ALT (on a Mac) or Shift (on Windows) and click “Restore.” Select the ipsw you downloaded.

At the end of the process you will receive an error; this is normal.

. Get IPHUC below and issue the following commands:

  • cmd setenv auto-boot true
  • cmd saveenv
  • cmd fsboot

Congratulations — you just downgraded!

Now time to load in the Hack Software

Tips

  • Be very careful with the software you choose if you decide to go a different route. You can brick your iPhone.

Warnings

  • Although this is completely legal, Apple will not replace your phone.
