To celebrate the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming and to advertise Dell's newest gaming laptop, Dell and Sony Pictures teamed up to create a live game in Times Square. Simply walk through the tourist hotspot to unlock the game and help Peter Parker save the day.
Two digital screens in Times Square present a URL needed to access the Spider-Man game. In the game, players must tap their phone screens to make Spider-Man scale buildings. While this occurs, a projection displays Spider-Man climbing up a nearby building to reflect the current performance of participants. There's also a scoreboard that shows the names of the top four players, so if you play well you could see your name on a billboard in the middle of Times Square.
This partnership between Sony Pictures and Dell utilizes the hype surrounding the recent Spider-Man flick to promote Dell's Inspiron 15 7000, a new budget gaming laptop. It's a smart move on Dell's part, as incorporating the beloved superhero into its advertisements is sure to capture attention — especially considering that Spider-Man: Homecoming has been remarkably well-received.
To play the game, head to Clear Channel Outdoor's digital billboard on Broadway between 46th and 47th Street. You can only play the game from 2 to 10 PM ET on July 7 and 8.
While we don't recommend flying out to NYC for the game, definitely stop by if you're in the city and interested in checking it out. Who knows, maybe you'll even spot the real Peter Parker while you're at it. He has been known to take down bad guys in the middle of Times Square.
